You really don’t want to spend any money on your blog. It was just an experiment.

Bankable Results

You can’t figure out why you still have almost no traffic and certainly no bankable results from your blog.

Perhaps you linked in your WordPress.com blog to your existing site but it is still hosted by WordPress.com not your own domain. Or maybe you never even got that far and it is still sitting on WordPress.com, Blogger, or Typepad.

I started my first blog on WordPress.com too but didn’t take long before I found that I didn’t want people reading my blog in one place when my real goal was to have them learn about me, start to trust me as a resource, and then perhaps invest in my services.

Where is the Google Traffic?

If your blog is some place else, the traffic is going there too! There is no guarantee that the people you are trying to reach are following back to your main site. Not only that, but you aren’t impacting your own site’s Google Rankings by having your blog off on WordPress.com, Blogger, or TypePad.

How to maximize your blog results?

Move the blog to your own domain. You will need to either learn how to move the blog yourself or invest in someone like Kim Woodbridge to do it for you. Kim has been my WordPress expert for several years. I don’t trust me with valuables and for me my blog is valuable. I put too much time into writing to lose it in a transfer.

This blog uses the Headway theme (affiliate) as does my other one but the reason I use Headway is that it creates a great looking blog and I actually can make all those changes by myself. I became an affiliate of Headway because I know that I can trust the product. Even when I was brand new to Headway, I figured out how to change navigation and colors and format the blog the way I like it. Easy is helpful to me.

After you move your blog to its own domain, you might find that a custom theme like Headway will make your blog look better, easier to change, and fun to play with.

You may need to invest a bit to get there but the bankable results you will get by owning your own blog home will pay back in the end!
